The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) is the biggest Europe-wide initiative promoting since 2009 the implementation of awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management during a single week.
It encourages a wide range of audiences (public authorities, private companies, schools, civil society as well as citizens themselves) to get involved.
This year, the initiative will take place between 16 and 24 November and it will focus on waste education and communication, aiming to inspire behavioral change.
Participating is very easy, those interested only have to fill in a short application form on the EWWR’s website. There are different materials available on the website to give you ideas on activities to be carried out for specific target groups: https://www.ewwr.eu/en/support/targeted-communication-toolkits. Furthermore, there are several communication tools (like posters, factsheets, logos) that can be used to give visibility to the activities, both online and offline.
Last but not least, every year Awards are assigned for the most outstanding actions implemented!
The EWWR Steering Committee includes, inter alia, the European Commission, national waste management authorities, waste management companies, and municipal associations. The project is managed by ACR+, the Association of Cities and Regions for Sustainable resource management, as the technical secretariat.
